Patricia Harris, NCC, LPC, LMFT, CSOTP

Outpatient Therapist

Pat is a board-certified counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor, and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has over 30 years of experience working in the mental health care field. Pat began her career working with adolescents in a residential facility and currently provides clinical supervision to other mental health professionals and sees individuals and couples for outpatient counseling.  Pat’s approach to therapy is a collaborative one with her clients. She works on improving communication and reducing conflict in relationships. Pat helps clients with stress management, grief and loss issues, depression, and anxiety. Pat also works with women who have a history of trauma, including abuse and neglect. 

 

Pat currently works with couples and individuals 18 and older.

Melissa Hale, MSN, RN, AGPNP-C

Nurse Practitioner

Melissa is an Adult/Geriatric Nurse Practitioner with over 15 year’s total experience in the nursing field where she has worked in various settings.  Prior to becoming a Nurse Practitioner, she worked in various roles as an RN, starting out as a critical care RN on a surgical step-down unit at St. Mary’s, then as a Nurse Navigator, totaling 8 years’ service for the Bon Secours Health System. In 2013 Melissa moved to Corpus Christi, TX, where she worked as a Care Transition Coach for CHRISTUS Spohn Memorial Hospital and as an RN for a Home Health agency. In 2016 after a move to Tuscaloosa, AL she worked on the Medical ICU at DCH Hospital.

When Melissa began her career as a Nurse Practitioner, she chose the field of Mental Health with the desire to make a difference; working in the mental health population quickly became her passion.  Prior to joining Family Focus, Inc. in 2020, Melissa worked in a private outpatient psychiatric practice serving teen, adult, and geriatric populations.

​

Melissa has a special interest in patients with depression, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and ADHD.

Kelly Shephard.jpg

Kelly Shephard, PMHNP

Nurse Practitioner

Kelly is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with a special interest in working with adults (18 - 64) experiencing life disruptions from anxiety, depression, stress, ADHD, and some mood disorders. She received her Bachelor’s in Science in Nursing from South University. After graduating from nursing school, Kelly was an ER nurse for 8 years, where she experienced firsthand the gap between medical and psychiatric care, and how the mind/body connection is often ignored. These gaps encouraged her to pursue her PMHNP degree. Kelly received her Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University.

Kelly's treatment philosophy is holistic and collaborative. She will work with you to formulate a safe and effective treatment plan that is unique to your experiences and mental wellness goals in a welcoming and compassionate environment. Her goal for every patient is to achieve optimal mental wellness and resiliency to overcome life's challenges.

Susan L. Lansbury, RN, MSN, PCPNP, PMHS

Nurse Practitioner

Susan Lansbury is a Licensed Nurse Practitioner who specializes in Pediatric and Adolescent behavioral health, ages 0-22.  Susan’s professional history spans more than 25 years, working with children, teens, and young adults. She began her career working in the NICU as a new RN in 1984, spent 20 years in pediatric primary care, and recently had the opportunity to work in a multi-specialty pediatric clinic, in the Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics Division.

​

To our practice, Susan brings experience working with children and teens who are on the Autism Spectrum, and/or those who have ADHD, anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, learning disabilities, Mood Disorders, Body Dysmorphia, and Gender Identity concerns. 

 

Susan has always been interested in focusing on mental health in every patient, helping to achieve optimal functioning academically, emotionally, and socially. She is a firm believer that mental health deeply impacts overall wellness and one's ability to defend against both physical and social stressors that impact the ability to navigate through each developmental challenge.

 

Susan moved to the Richmond area several years ago, from northern VA. She is a mother of three adult children and a grandmother to two. In her personal time, she enjoys traveling, swimming competitively, and spending time with her dog, Stella.

 

Susan will be joining Family Focus, Inc and accepting new child, teen and adolescent clients in November 2022!

Jessica Beach, LCSW

Jessica Beach and her family moved to Richmond in August 2017 and fell in love with the area. She grew up in Long Island, New York, and obtained her Master’s Degree in Social Work at Stony Brook University. Jessica and her family spent 10 years living in sunny Florida where she worked in a community mental health agency. She received her LCSW during this time and had the privilege of working with a diverse population. 


Clinical Practice

Jessica is a licensed clinical social worker who is experienced in working with adolescents, adults, and families. She is currently working with adult individuals and couples who are struggling with depression, anxiety, chronic illness, relationship challenges, and parenting issues.  Jessica also works with individuals who have experienced grief and loss and provides trauma counseling for individuals who have more persistent unresolved concerns, including veterans and active-duty service members.  Jessica and Michael also provide a collaborative approach to couples counseling. Both clinicians work with individual participants to resolve issues that are impacting the relationship.


Jessica believes that we all have struggles that can benefit from support from time to time. Using Strengths Perspective, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and emotion regulation skills, Jessica has seen individuals resolve specific issues and feel more prepared to address future life challenges. Jessica also believes that as social beings we ultimately heal and grow when provided the tools, support, and encouragement needed.

Meet Michael Beach, LCSW

Michael Beach moved to Richmond in August 2017. He grew up in Long Island, New York.  Michael and his family spent 10 years living in sunny Florida where he obtained his Master’s Degree in Social Work at Florida State University. He has a background in community mental health and had the privilege of working with a diverse population. 


Michael is a licensed clinical social worker experienced with helping adolescents, adults, and families seeking to change their lives. Michael is currently working with adult individuals and couples.  He has helped individuals to better manage their struggles with self-esteem, communication, depression, anxiety, and relationship challenges. Michael has also worked with individuals to effectively process the lingering effects of trauma, as well as grief and loss and addiction challenges.  Michael and Jessica also provide a collaborative approach to couples counseling. Both clinicians work with individual participants to resolve issues that are impacting the relationship.

Michael utilizes Strengths Perspective, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and emotion regulation skills to help individuals resolve issues, and feel more confident in their own lives.   Michael also believes that everyone can benefit from encouragement and an unbiased outside perspective from time to time.
